A charging post is similar to a petrol dispenser in a petrol station. It can be mounted on the ground or on a wall. It can also be installed in public buildings, shopping malls, public car parks, residential car parks or charging stations. It can be divided into fast and slow charging posts according to the different access voltages. The output of the charging post is directly connected to the household AC power and the output is equipped with a charging plug for charging new energy electric vehicles. The charging post generally offers two charging modes: normal charging and fast charging, charging operation by swiping a card or scanning a code, charging time, cost data printing, etc. The charging post display shows the charging volume, amount, as well as charging time and other data.

Charging an electric vehicle using a charging post is actually charging the battery used for energy storage in the electric vehicle. The charging principle is that after the battery has been discharged, it is charged with a DC battery to bring it back to a full state. This process is called battery charging. When charging the battery, the positive terminal of the battery is connected to the positive terminal of the power supply and the negative terminal of the battery is connected to the negative terminal of the power supply. The voltage of the charging power supply must be higher than the total voltage of the battery. Charging piles generally have two charging methods: constant current charging and constant voltage charging. In the new EV terminology implemented for charging pads, two charging modes are defined respectively: constant current charging, a way of charging the battery with a controlled constant current; and constant voltage charging, a way of charging the battery with a controlled constant voltage. So what is constant current charging and constant voltage charging specifically?

1. Constant current charging method: constant current charging method is a charging method to keep the charging current intensity constant by adjusting the output voltage of the charging device or changing the resistance in series with the battery, the control method is simple, but because the acceptable current capacity of the battery gradually decreases with the charging process to the end of the charging cycle, the charging current is mostly used for electrolysis of water, gas generation and air discharge, so the method used is too frequent.

2. Constant voltage charging method: The voltage of the charging power supply is kept at a constant value during all charging times, and the current gradually decreases with the increase in voltage at the battery end. Compared to the constant current charging method, the charging process is closer to the optimum charging curve. Rapid charging at a constant voltage. Due to the low electric potential of the battery, the charging current is high at the beginning of the charge and decreases as the charge progresses, so that the charging station only requires a simple control system.
