EV is called Electric Vehicle, which translates to pure electric drive vehicle, specifically an electric motor to drive the car forward.

Three main types of electric vehicles exist for this model: the first is powered directly from an external power station; the second is initially powered from electricity stored in an external power source; and the third uses an on-board generator, such as an internal combustion engine (hybrid electric vehicles) or a hydrogen fuel cell. If the model's energy source is a battery which comes from an external power source, this is a pure electric vehicle or battery electric vehicle (BEV); if the electricity comes from a generator driven by an internal combustion engine, it is a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV); if it comes from solar panels, it is a solar vehicle; if it comes from a fuel cell, it is a fuel cell vehicle (FCEV).
