DC charging station means "fast charging",It is a power supply device fixed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC power grid, which can provide DC power for the off-board electric vehicle power battery.
The DC charger's input voltage is three-phase four-wire AC 380 V ± 15%, and frequency is 50to 60Hz, which directly charges the power battery of the EV. it also can provide enough power (60kw, 120kw, 200kw or even higher) and the output voltage and current can be adjusted in a wide range, which can meet the requirements of fast charging. It may takes 20~150 minutes for a car to be fully charged, so it is usually installed at the charging station like the highway, packing lot, Service station, commercial building and fleet etc.
AC charging pile means "slow charging", it is a power supply device installed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC power grid to provide AC power for the electric vehicle on-board charger. The AC charger only provides output power, so it needs to connect the on-board charger to charge the electric vehicle. It is equivalent to just controlling the power supply. The single-phase/three-phase AC power output by the AC pile is converted into DC power through the on-board charger to charge the on-board battery. The power is generally small (7kw, 22kw, 40kw, etc.). It may takes 7-10 hours for a car to be fully charged, so it is generally installed in the parking lot of the community and home.
