FCEV is known as Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle in English, and is known as Fuel Cell Vehicle in Chinese. Its energy conversion efficiency is two to three times higher than that of an internal combustion engine.

Passenger cars are more common in some countries where hydrogen refuelling stations are relatively common, such as Japan and the USA, and are represented by the Toyota MIRAI and Hyundai NEXO.
