AC charging stations, commonly known as the "slow charging post", is a power supply device that is fixed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC grid, using 220V single-phase AC power as the national standard.
The AC charging pile only provides power output and has no charging function. It needs to be connected to the vehicle charger to charge the electric vehicle and only plays the role of controlling the power supply. It uses the AC charging mode in line with the national standard, with an output power of up to 7kW. Generally, it takes 5-8 hours for the vehicle battery to be fully charged from 0 to full, depending on the power battery capacity and actual charging power of different models.
As of December 2020, a total of 807,000 public charging piles have been reported by the members of the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, including 498,000 AC charging piles, 309,000 DC charging piles and 481 integrated AC/DC charging piles.
According to the data released by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, by the end of December 2020, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure nationwide was 1,681,000 units, of which, the number of public charging piles was 807,000 units, up 56.4% year-on-year; the number of private charging piles (with vehicle charging facilities) was 874,000 units, up 24.3% year-on-year.
From the perspective of the number of operators' charging piles, the number of charging piles of Special Call, Star Charging and State Grid all exceeded 100,000 units, ranking the top three. In terms of regional distribution, Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang all ranked in the top five in terms of the number of public charging stations and charging stations, with public charging piles mainly distributed in the eastern and central parts of the country.
