According to overseas media reports, the UK government is planning to fund £50 million to help individuals as well as enterprise users to install EV charging stations and other EVSE equipment.
It is reported that the funding will be provided to individual home owners, renters and small enterprises, and the UK government will subsidise the cost of setting up home charging points by up to £350. Previously, the UK government provided subsidies to individual homeowners through the ElectricVehicleHomechargeScheme, but this has now been extended to include renters.
At the same time, the UK Government is also offering WorkplaceChargingScheme to small enterprises and charities, enabling these public bodies to install charging equipment for their staff and customers to meet the increasing travel demand for electric vehicles.
In relation to the previous UK state of car charging survey, the government has approved more investment in charging stations/ points. The UK Transport Department has also said that they will look to streamline and improve the reliability of the paid charging process to better meet the 2030 target to stop selling pure petrol and diesel models.
