What is a DC Fast Charger?

DC fast charging uses direct current (DC), which is different than the alternating current (AC) that is available in homes and most commercial buildings. The DC charging station is a Level 3 charger which can cater for very high power level in the range of 60 to 350 kW. The L3 chargers typically charge electric vehicles to 80% State of Charge (SOC) in under 30 minutes.

60KW CCS GBT DC Fast Charger are designed for quick, convenient charging of all electric vehicle models, including those equipped with high voltage battery systems. The compact size of 60KW CCS GBT DC fast charger makes it perfect for public and fleet use, while its modularity allows an increase of charging power up to 60KW and serve up to two electric vehicles at the same time.

What influence charging speed?

1. Battery pack capacity.

In general, a larger battery pack can be charged faster.

2. State of Charge (SoC).

When the battery is almost fully charged, the charge speed drops to prevent the battery cells from overheating. Typically at 80-90% SoC the speed drops and charging will slow down further closer to 100% SoC.

3. Battery temperature.

Battery cells operate most effectively between 20-25 degrees Celcius (68-77 degrees Fahrenheit). When battery temperature is too low or too high, the BMS reduces the requested current to protect the health of the battery cells.
